Spend a weekend in the country filled with ravishing melodies and dangerous libidos…

A romantic farce par excellence. Based on the Ingmar Bergman film “Smiles of a Summer Night,” couples meet, part, reunite during a glorious “Weekend in the Country” – all under the watchful eyes of the wry family matriarch and a harmonizing Greek chorus. The beautiful Sondheim score contains his biggest hit in “Send in the Clowns.”

We are committed to the health and safety of our audiences and artists, and follow all relevant guidance and mandates, including the City and County of San Francisco, the CDC, and Actors’ Equity Association. Please note our COVID policies prior to purchasing your tickets:

All attendees over the age of 12 must show proof of vaccination (either physical or digital forms are acceptable), along with matching photo ID. Attendees ages 5-12 may show a negative COVID test result taken within 24 hours of the performance. At this time we are not allowing children under age 5 to attend.

Everyone in the theatre must remain masked at all times, with the exception of the performers while they are on stage. Limited concessions will be available for sale, and may be consumed outside under the covered arcade.

All artists working on the production are fully vaccinated, are tested twice weekly, and remain masked throughout the rehearsal process unless they are actively performing onstage.

The theatre is cleaned after every rehearsal and performance. Air purifiers exceeding the minimum MERV filter recommendations are located in the lobby, in the auditorium, and backstage.

A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC is part of 42nd Street Moon’s SONDHEIM SWEEP

In what may be the most ambitious venture in our history, 42nd Street Moon has committed to be the first theatre company ever to produce every single professional stage show by legendary composter, Stephen Sondheim. The Sondheim Sweep will present his works, both lauded and obscure, either in production or in concert, for every season henceforward, from his first musical out of college to his most recent, to whatever he comes up with next…

We look forward to honoring the reigning master of the musical form for many years to come!
